Update on CHI 2020 in relation to Covid‑19 (Coronavirus)

The CHI 2020 is still scheduled to be held as planned. The safety and well-being of all conference participants is our priority. We are following updates on the situation from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC). In particular, the CDC has set up a website with valuable information to assist people with concerns about Covid-19 (Coronavirus), including information on transmission, symptoms, prevention, and treatment. We urge all attendees to keep informed on risks, precautions, and symptoms to make educated decisions.

Together with ACM and SIGCHI, the CHI 2020 conference team has outlined below in order to provide information in regards to traveling or presenting at CHI 2020.

Attendees and Authors

If you have registered for the conference but are unable to attend based on WHO or CDC advisories, government or employer restrictions, please contact chiregistration@executivevents.com. CHI 2020 will be extending full registration refunds to those unable to attend due to the above reasons. Refunds based on employer restrictions will require official employer documentation.
For authors who will not be able to present their papers due to travel restrictions, please contact us to let us know if a colleague can present on your behalf. In such cases, the registration team (chiregistration@executivevents.com) can help you change your registration to a colleague. If a colleague is unable to present on your behalf, please look for updates on the website while we working on options to allow for remote or pre-recorded presentations. *These options are intended to assist those in need of special arrangements. Please be fair to those in need and note that in all other cases, authors are expected to attend the conference and present their work in person, as in previous CHIs.

Live Streaming & Conference Recordings

§  CHI 2020 will be live streaming many of the conference’s technical sessions. There is no cost to access these live streams during the week of the conference.
§  CHI 2020 will also record and post-caption a selection of technical sessions. In the weeks following the conference, those recordings will be freely available through SIGCHI channels including the ACM Digital Library.
